noisy suspension... any ideas?
ok so it started a couple nights ago on my 99 A6 quattroand it happens when i stop or go over a pot hole or sumin.. but i noticed a squeeking when i stop.. so i got out and tested the suspension on the front of my car and when it was going up and down there was a squeeking noise, its irritating... so i called the audi dealership and they said it was the bushings in the tie rods. or sumin like that, that holds the suspension or w/e i cant remember the exact words he said. and he quoted me 800$ to replace just the driver side upper and lower. thats INSANE@!! but yea if its easy to do myself ill do it..just need a little help on where to find these and if thats truely the problem.
I think you first need to confirm where the squeaking is coming from. You also have bushing in your control arms as well.
Have you car diagnosed at a reputable independant mechanic that specializes in european cars.
OOOO
The kits to replace both sides of your control arms (both upper and lower) as well as new tie rod ends runs about $550. You provide the labor, although I have heard it isn't that difficult to do.....just time consuming.
The dealers charge about 4 hours of labor PER SIDE to do the job, so if you feel like spending another $800 in labor then by all means go for it.

I guess your springs are getting old?? that's why they squeek?? cause my 03 something have those sounds when I go through speed bumps at low speed or bumpy roads....changing suspension won't be cheap if you do it at dealer anyways...
ok so i found out what it was.....and it was a creeking noise so i have it narrowed down to the drivers side front stablizer link on the top..or w/e they call it..but i got a price quote of 150 bucks from audi and it was the bushing inside.and i was playin with it and movin it around and that was it....so yea im gunna get a freind to install it.. so it should be goodl thanks for all the help.
