Default noob with a new car

Hey all

I just picked up my 2001 A6 2.7T m6 today after many ups and downs this weekend. It was a good way to start this week (I don't want to count yesterday). Its cashmere grey with tan interior, with sports, premium, preferred luxury, and cold weather packages. I absolutely love it. Everything is flawless except for the cheap *** shift **** the person before me put on. Which brings me to this: would a shift **** from the 03+ (the round ball-like one) fit on an 01? And if so, or not, any ideas on where to get one cause im not having much luck on ebay. Im really looking forward to this car and blowing every penny i make on it. But right now i just have big ideas and a little wallet.

Seriously though, thanks to all the people on here that put up with noobs and their million questions, because of this site and audiworld I do not regret one thing about buying this car because I knew so much going into the market. Im tired as hell, so I think im going to go drive some more.

Peace,
Michael

oh and if i ever get pics on my comp ill post them

Congratulations. Great car. Great color. Great configuration. Other than the color of the interior (mine is Tungsten), it sounds like our cars are twins. You may want to follow the link in my signature to my registry page. There, you'll find a number of links that will be of interest to you. One of them, for the "Toy Guy short shifter," points to somebody who has probably forgotten more about Audi shifters than you or I could ever know. Follow the link to Craig's website (the "Toy Guy") and you can ask him via email about cross-year compatability. He'd know.

Enjoy the ride -- I'm lovin mine!
