I just got this 2001 A6 2.7 T and while changing my oil I could not get the oil filter off. The oil filter is right next to the oil pan, correct? I just want to make sure this is the oil filter location and I'm not messing with some other filter. Thanks.

 

you need a big plaers to untight the filter ,ruber drys from hi temp.get anoder set of big pliers and hold the oil cooler othe rway it will move wich may cose coolent leak later.don't worry,you can do it

Using oil on the rubber seal will not only help it seal better, but it will also make it easier the next time you change the oil.

 

actually putting oil on the seal(gasket) prevents it from twisting out of shape and leaking after installation.

 

Thats what i thought i said, but i guess my english really is as bad as i thought it was.
