I am new here

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what would be the normal oil consumption of an A6 1.9TDi card on long life service. I find my one needs about 1.5 liters of 5W-30 oil per 18,000 miles. Is this normal?

book says its pertinent to use 1 ltr per 1k miles so it seems your motor is in good states

 

thanks, it was just that sometimes under hard accerlarating can see a lot of black smoke coming out, especially in the night with someone following close behind.

Black smoke is soot from diesel fuel while engine is under load, blue smoke would be oil burning.

 

1.5 l for 18k miles or 28.8 thousand km is good, as Dave said.

I used to go through 1 l for 10k miles.
