Just had timing belts done two weeks ago. Now the oil pump is gone and has damaged the engine beyond repair. Was told by a friend that the timing belts may control the oil pressure, and then mechanic that replaced my timing belts could have damaged the oil pump when replacing. Don't know much about how this works. Does that sound possible?

 

It's a 200 A6 2.7T Quattro

 

They are independent. Car's always seem to know when you have just spent a lot of money on them as that is when they always break down.

Look for a used engine. Sell the parts off your old one.
