Default Fuel Pump Question----

Car still wont start after putting it together after a head rebuild. We have been trying to listen for the Fuel Pump, but it seems like its not kicking in and no gas is being pumped out the line under the hood. The battery was disconnected for about a month or so.

Does the ecu have some sort of safety feature that dissables the fuel pump????

Or is the fuel pump bad???

I had the fuel pump fuse out before when we were testing for start up.

My guess would be the fuel pump relay is sticking, change that first before condeming the ECM.

It depends, i either need your VIN number to look it up, or you can buy a repair manual.

Auditech, if i go to the dealer to discuss my problems how much help do you think they would give me? If i was a customer of theirs before...
My objective is to get an answer tomorrow and fix this. Because nothing makes sense. I ask for the Relay number just because my uncle is taking that route for trying to fix this, and i dont think its the right way since he never dealt with cars as electrically complex as my audi.

The fuel pump works, that i found through giving it voltage in the trunk and holding a bottle to the fuel line up front. There is no sign of voltage through fuse 28 (fuel pump) on either side. Suggesting no problem with the fuse, i have to resort to two things,ONE- a bad relay(which my uncle took all of them out and said they were "like new") or TWO- the computer has complete control to over ride the supply of fuel.

I know the least about option two at this point and no one seems to have any reason to why this would happen after a rebuild.
Haynes manual is like trying to figure out family history starting with fromt he 10th century. Everything and anything could result in a problem and there is no possible way for me to trouble shoot this efficiently.

Its driving me nutz!

Trust me, you can't just look at a relay and say its good, they are covered in plastic! You have to electrically test them, and some of these relays have more than 6 pins, so if you not an electrical engineer you can't test them anyway.
Control modules hardly go bad, if you go to the dealer don't expect any help. Just PM me your VIN and i will post which relay you need to test/change.

P.S. If you have a VAG COM there should be a whole bunch of codes in the ECM if the fuel pump relay is sticking.
