Default Overheating Problem..

Hello, I got a little problem with my car..wonder if you guys can help me out..I just got my thermostat replaced last week (by independent mechanic)....but he misplaced the timing belttooth when he put the belt back...now I has the problem with overheating..the fan won't turn on until the heating gauge almost reach to the highest point..also the power steering got burn when the engine get too hot (overheat)..car still run and drive as normal..but as stop and go traffic..it will get hot very fast..but will cool down when I got to the freeway..so my question is..can the timing belt able to be reset to it current condition? would this damaged the engine if I keep driving in this condition (if Ican keep the car from overheating)? if I turn the a/c on to keep the fan running..would this help to cool down the engine? also is it easy to correct the timing problem by DIY? need your advise..thanks

This is the dumbest thing i have ever read. Both of you made mistakes here, first off you should have bought the entire timing belt repair kit from ecstuning.com which includes the T-belt, S-belt, thermostat, water pump, rollers, ect for under $300.
Second the mechanic fuvking up the timing belt is his fault and he should have to take the car apart and fix his problem, that being said i believe he installed the thermostat upsidown which will make it overheat.
Complain to the shop and buy the parts i told you about and get it done right.
The timing belt WILL NOT FIX ITSELF!

Based on your post, I would not suggest that you do anything to the engine yourself. Bring it to a qualified mechanic. I would even suggest the dealer. By the way, I won't work on my car either.
