Default Parking brake, traction control fault

My A6 keeps flashing a warning symbol on the brakes and telling me 'parking brake auto release fault' and then the traction control light comes on and it warns me that the ESP is off and drive to a garage carefully. but then everything stops and the car works fine, it does it now and again, could there be something seriously wrong or could the computer be going a bit haywire?

Thanks Jon

Could just be a problem with a sensor, but you might want to have it checked out anyway. What year is your car? Newer i suspect being that you probably have nav.

I had some similar lights going on - also, the cruise control stopped working and the ABS light would remain on. Turned out to be a relatively inexpensive brake switch sensor. Cost less than $100 including installation.

Hope it turns out to be something that simple for you.
