I just discovered this:

Audi_Advanced_Engine_Diagnostics_Course_942600.pdf

http://www.vaglinks.com/Docs/Audi/Mi...rse_942600.pdf

Wow!
Wish Ida found this years ago.

as well as vaglinks.com

Thanks for that!!

Well,
The previous times I set the readiness, I failed to bring the temperature above 80 degrees c.
Now the readiness is set correctly.

The O2 sensors checked out ok.

My idle control valvee is different than the one in the write-up. Mine looks way hard to get to.
I even removed some vacuum hoses and the plate the hoses cross to get better access to the ICV.
Removing the ICV looks like a bigger job than I'd like to tackle right now.

I fed some seafoam into the suction valve.
That seemed to help a little.

The idle is perfect when the car is stationary.

However, the idle gets sporadic when I am coming to a stop or slowing down to make a turn.

I have not checked the speed sensor yet.
Is there anything else I should be looking at?

Thanks.

Try putting more seafoam into the ICV. The fact that it ran better after the seafoam may mean that it is still somewhat dirty. Other than that, try standard tune up stuff, as in fuel filter, air filter, cleaning MAF sensor and etc.

I checked the speed sensor with vag-com and it's working properly.

O2 sensors
Vacuum
ICV
Injectors
MAF
Possibly Air temp sensor
coolant temp sensor

What are some other things that can cause idle problems?

Thanks.
