125K, great shape. Anyone able to let me know what to look for, whether to buy or not? Timing Belt/Chain has been changed. Thanks.

Great engine horrible transmission. Expect that TCM or transmission to go first

Other things to look for:
-Axle boots
-Control arm bushings
-Suspension
-Electrical Gremlins
-Dash display unreadable

There are just too many things with that generation of the A6 to list. Sooner or later you will be paying for that luxury
(but you will still love driving car as long as it drives!)

Ok. Thanks for your help. Never have own an Audi before, so wanted to hear it from experience. Take care.

My 02 has 168,000 on it. Trans is original and shifts great. I have done fluid changes regularly. I will say at that mileage (122,000) I had to have the cam chain tensioners replaced. Around $2600.00. One of the cats went about 6 mo later. May have been tied to the tensioner failure.(rich running). As Sheldon said, CV boots in front every 60,000 or so.

I also replaced all the control arms and struts at about 148,000. Made a huge difference.

What is the asking price? I have been told mine is worth about $2k trade in. I continue to drive it and love it. Most of this stuff, aside from the tensioners, is normal to any car.

Oh, almost forgot, the oil cooler pipe at the block. It will go sometime as the o rings are not Viton. If most of this stuff has not been addressed, be careful. One reason why I drive mine and don't look for another with lower miles. I would have to do all this stuff over.
