proximity sensor inoperable
All,
I finally got my car back from the shop! I just had a South Bend Stage 3 OFE clutch and OEM (Luk) dual-mass flywheel installed. That "Feramic" lining in the flywheel side of the disc grabs so fast and the whole kit has stock-like drivability! I love it! However, the proximity sensor seemed to be disabled somehow. Has anyone had a problem with theirs? (i.e. the right mirror doesn't go down for parallel parking with the mirror **** in the proper setting, and there's no "beeping" warning soud when you are backing up and getting close to an object).
The shop was already closed when I noticed, so I was just wondering if you guys knew anything about it. I think the feature may be called "parktronics," but all I've heard it called is the proximity sensor.

P.S. On a separate note, it's time to chip soon and I need the final answer: APR or GIAC?
Thanks,
Louie

Good luck with the new clutch!
As for Parktronic......are your backup lights coming on when you put the car in reverse? (One of the techs can double-check me on this, but).....if they're not coming on either, chances are that the switch that tells the electronics when the car is in reverse either was bumped out of position or was inadvertently not hooked back up. All three systems are triggered by the same switch. Tell the shop, politely, that they missed something
You are right calling it Parktronic; that's Audi's official name for the rear-sensor system.
APR or GIAC? Search the forums. This one has been gone over with a fine-toothed comb a whole bunch of times. You'll find your answers there.

Turns out that the shop just didn't ensure that a plug was secured tight...it's all good now. Oh yeah, the new clutch KICKS ***! Like I mentioned, I went with the new clutch (South Bend Stage 3 OFE) and an original dual-mass flywheel (Luk) as opposed to a lightweight flywheel. If you have any questions about the pros and cons, ask me. I spent HOURS researching this subject. And through my research, I've become less inclined to do business with AWE tuning. That's a whole 'nother story.
