question...
hey guys just got the secondary air injection pump replaced on 2003 Audi A6 2.7 quattro, it was suppose to get the cel fixed, but after driving 50 miles the code came back, the car was serviced under warranty, lucky us, we bought this car for a customer, and CEL came back on, the mechanic tells that car needs to be driven for couple days before the valves star opening up correctly, because some of them might of been stuck, the old pump was dead like didnt not even power up manually, just wanna know if you guys think this is true lol thanks

He might be correct but it sounds a bit fishy.
There are two vacuum actuated valves that control the air to the exhaust manifold on a 2.8 A6 (I don't know how many on a 2.7) If they haven't been activated for a long time they might stick but they are activated by vacuum not the air from the pump. Usually the problem is bad vacuum lines but the pump is near the inner fender pannel and has been known to get packed with snow and freeze up.
When there is low air flow the light stays off for a few trips after being reset...
Since it is a warantee issue I'd drive a couple days and if the light dosent go out I'd insist the mechanic fix it - be aware he might just reset the CEL and it will return in a few trips. If it does then insist he do the job correctly -- cause he's full of stuff...

I bet my bottom dollar that you did not need your secondary air pump replaced. I believe you have a vacuum leak somewhere. Just follow the vacuum lines from the back of the motor to 2 combination values at the rear of the motor. (They have silvery looking top and have 1 vacuum line going to them each) Make sure that they are all in good condition. If in doubt, just replace the lines. Parts will cost you about $2 from a local parts house.
