I am replacing a torn outer cv boot and I lost the plastic washer that was on the axle. The new boot kit I bought has a metal washer but the write-ups I've seen looks like they have both washers. Do I need both? If so, anyone know if they can be purchased separetly.

You need to go to the Audi parts department and buy the plastic spacer washer. Also, you need to replace the spring steel wire circlip, as they get damaged when separating the shaft from the outer CV joint, with tool 3207. These small parts are usually loose inan unsealed box, so sometimes they are missing. Your kit should also include a new large M16 washer bolt.
