Question regarding Control Arm Install...
Allright so here is my issue. I recently bought the febi control arm replacement set from www.purems.com. When I got everything apart I noticed none of the replacement numbers match the numbers of the original control arms. That caused me to take a look the the control arms themselves and noticed on the lower control arms of the passenger front have different sized male ends that insert into the wheel bearing housing. They are quite a bit different from the original and there is no way I can see that they will fit. I am wondering if there are bushings that are not included in the kit that I may need to have pressed in to accommodate the new design? They are closed and I am not happy at the moment. Any ideas?
PS. If it matters the kit number on the box ends in S1 when the kit number on my order form does not. Seems trivial but who knows...
2000 4.2L A6
145,000 miles and runs great! (Until now!)

I am planning on calling them first thing in the morning, but here are pics incase anyone is interested...
One pic is a comparison of old and new and one is of the bushing in the wheel bearing housing. For those who may be interested. Thanks.

RE: Question regarding Control Arm Install...
Just an update:
Talked to PureMS and it seems that the 00 4.2L came from the factory with both steel and aluminum uprights. I bought the kit from PureMS for the steel uprights because that was all that was listed on their website. Since my conversation with them yesterday their website has been updated. If you have the aluminum uprights, you need to by the more expensive package used for the S4. Most of the parts are the same but the lower front control arm is different. I am getting the parts tonight and will see how they go together. Will update again after I am finished.
