Default questions about front pad and rotor replacment

Bear with me, I am new to the internet forum world.
I have a 2001 Audi A6 2.8. I need to replace the front brake pads and re-surface the rotors. Is therea do it yourself section that walks you through a simple brake job for an Audi. I am weary to tear into this, due to the fact, I do not want to get it all taken apart, and not have the correct tools. If there is not a walk thru, what am I up against when I go to change the pads and rotors on my Audi?

You'll find great tech article's & info in the A6 links...

Front brakes are pretty straightforward on a 2.8 A6. I would recommend Mintex "Red box" pads and new rotors. The Audi rotors are prone to warping if they're resurfaced.

Do new rotors or you will sorry. I learned this the hard way, and got the joy of doing the job twice.

I second GIaudi: though I haven't had the displeasure of having to do my Audi's brakes twice, I did make the mistake of having my Volvo's front brakes recut rather than just getting new rotors. They were a warped mess within a few months, and I ended up getting new ones anyway. That car weighs 3100 lbs and makes about 175 hp. The A6 is something like 3800 lbs and makes a lot more power. A lot more stress on the front disks = It'll eat the rotors alive in a short time if they're cut.
