RE: tips and suggestions for the new 2.7t owner
I just put a deposit down on my new 2.7T.... pics soon…. The thread mentioned above has been invaluable. My A6 has 88K… instead of negotiating the price I managed the dealer to take it to an audi authorized shop to replace the timing belt and all assoc. parts, serp belt and water pump… also, replacing the breaks and an oil change.
I am now thinking of going a head and changing the o2 sensors and the Turbos. Changing the turbos are going to kill me. The dealer say’s that neither need to be changed… but I want to be proactive and hedge myself from any future damages.
What are the cons of not changing the turbos at 88K?
How can I tell that they are going?
What is a reasonable price for them to get fixed?
Also the temp sender should be green what does that mean? My mechanic doesn’t know what I am talking about?
What would you do?
Cheers all!

Don't mess with the turbos. They could last another 88K miles. Why replace them unless there is something wrong with them? They are expensive to replace and install. Good move with the timing belt service.

great deal on the service they did but why would you change the turbos if they are ok.!?
Consider the following
- Upgrade the DV's
- Upgrade the TBB
- Get Piggy Pipes which will reduce the temperature behind the turbos therefore expanding their life. You'll gain reliability and probbaly 15hp/20lbs Tq if chipped.
- Get NewSouth Powergaskets... especially if you are going to change your auxiliary water pump (it WILL break and leak if not replaced already), this way no extra labor for the gaskets as they have to remove the intake to get to the pump. Otherwise, it is probably 2 hrs labor+ . The gaskets will lower temperature and add power.
ALWAYS ALWAYS warm your car up before pushing it, and not by letting it sit running in the driveway but by driving it easy.. and ALWAYS let i cool off before turning it off after spirited driving...
