Default Real main seal replacement

98 2.8q

I am preparing to replace the timing belt assembly.

The car has been leaking oil for a long time now, and I figured since I was in there I may as well fix the leak.

The audi dealer replaced the belt the first time apporox 2 years ago, and also the cam seals I believe. That did not fix the leak. It is not obvious where the leak is coming from.

So, looking through the bentley manual, I think the leak is coming from the rear main seal.

The manual states that the transmission must be removed in order to replace the seal.

The manual does not have a section on removing an automatic transmission.
It does, however have a section on removing a manual transmission.

Is the process the same for both automatic and manual?

Thanks.
