Default Rear Brake Pad Replacement Help!!!

I am trying to replace the rear pads on the car. The pads are wore all the way down to the metal. I have the tool that turns the piston while compressing it but the piston is so far out the tool wont fit. I can turn the piston with a pair of channel locks but it will not go in. Any help or suggestions would greatly be appreciated!!!!

You can just use the adapter, an extension and a ratchet. Turn and push the piston until you have enough clearance to install the whole tool. Leave it mounted on the bracket with atleast one bolt so you don't have to hold it.
Factory tool have thinner blade and adapter to fit.
