Default Remote Locking problems...

Greetings everyone.

Have tried to search the forums around the net but can't find an answer on my question so maybe someone here can help.

I went out to the car (Audi A6, 1997/98, 1.8T SE) and opened the car as normal with my remote key fob. After dropping off the wife at here meeting and when trying to lock the car the remote no longer works.

I have recently changed the batteries in the remote for 2 brand new Duracell 1620 3V and re-synchronized with the "key in door" method. This worked perfect and I have driven just over 3200km in 4 days without any problems what so ever.

The car can be unlocked via the driver side door but not locked since only the driver door locks and needs to be locked via the boot to lock all 4 doors and activate the alarm on the car...

There is NO water in the foot well under the carpet on the driver OR passenger side of the car or next to the battery in under the bonnet, I have also checked the cables between the doors and the body and there is no visible faults or anything.

Since I only have one key to the car and planing to sell it in less than a year I am not investing in a 2nd key for approx £150-200... This means I can't do the 2 key re-programing.

Anyone got any ideas what could be wrong with the car/remote locking???
Not the end of the world but so irritating.

Thanks for looking.

H.

you can purchase a plain key without remote much cheaper than the key/remote combo this is what we had to do to be able to reprogram the remote on my daughters A6

Check the batteries, they may have failed, I know you just changed them but it is worth checking to see if they are still good. You can also verify that the remote is transmitting a signal as well. Auto DIY stores have machines to see if your remote is transmitting a signal. If you have good batteries and you have a signal, try starting the car and then locking and unlocking the door with the key and then use the remote. This has fixed my remote in the past after a battery change, where the remote would work for a few days and then stop working. Hope this helps.
