My front right blinker went out so my husband bought a new light, replaced it, and then when trying to drive it, the car has problems shifting from 1st gear to 2nd. The RPM goes up to 400+ and the car won't take off. Since this happened, he removed the new bulb and now the car is driving fine, but are blinker is of course, not working. Has anyone ran into this problem and/or might have any suggestions on what our next step should be? I have an autumatic 1999 A6 Quattro.

Thats really strange. I dont see how fitting even the incorrect bulb could cause this problem as the two parts dont share any wiring. Try putting the left blinker bulb in that socket and see what happens.
