Default replacing air filter

How easy is it replacing the air filter on a '01 A6 2.7T ? I read somewhere that one has to be careful with the MAF sensor.

The mass airflow is in the area but i cant think of any special precautions. The hardest part will be clipping in the airbox once you get the new filter in.

Dont waste your money on the k and n. The performance gains are negligable and there is the possiblity of coating the maf in oil resulting in incorrect readings. K and n can also distort airflow across the maf causing false readings.

i recommended the k&n because it has a million mile warrantee for one. and it is rechargeable for another, meaning when it gets dirty, you can wash it out. I didn't recommend it for performance gains. If someone is trying to use an air filter for performance, they need to do a lil' more than that.

how can it distort readings?

It distorts airflow across the mass airflow meter. It also gets oil on the sensor.

totally agree the oil from the filter contaminates the MAF sensor, you can get dry K&N panel filters
