Seafoam question on 3.0L

Default Seafoam question on 3.0L

Hey Guys
I want to do a Seafoam on my 2002 A6 3.0, but I'm not sure where the Vac Line is located?

So I have 2 questions.
1. I'm not sure which is the FPR Vac Line on a 3.0L engine?
2. Will I have to change the Spark Plugs after the Seafoam treatment,
since apparently they get wet?

You can use the fuel pressure regulator vacuum line, it should be on the fuel rail.

You should change the spark plugs after doing the seafoam treatment because they can easilly get fouled up. Just make sure to not pry up on the coilpacks to get them out, the 3.0L coils tend to break and cause misfires when prying on them.

I thought it was best to use one of the intake lines?
*I was however never able to find any images to help

The FPR vac line is direct manifold vacuum. There isn't a whole lot of places you can inject seafoam on the 3.0L

No the 2.8L has all kinds of vacuum lines to tap into.

You wouldn't happen to have any pictures pertaining to the 2.8 would you? I just purchased my A6 and already put a can in the fuel tank but would like to run some through the intake and oil as well.

I'd try WD-40 from the tank => cheaper and more effective (injectors) purge.
Or one could use Lubro Moly
or
just make yourself a blend from:

mineral spirits
naphtha
kerosine

(everything from WM)

for the fraction of the cost.

No, i don't have access to the factory repair manuals anymore, but it can't be that hard to find. Just take off the rear engine cover, (where the rings are) there are tons of vacuum lines back there as well as the FPR vacuum line which is the ideal one to use as it goes into the manifold directly after the throttle body.
