Shaking at idle??
i have a 2000 A6 2.7t (6 speed) and i was wondering if someone had a solution for my problem. at idle (engine warm or cold) my car shakes. it's not violent or anything but it definitely is abnormal. it feels like the car is struggling to stay on but the rpm hovers at around 750. i thought it might be the spark plugs or fuel filter so i changed out both but it's still there. i know people have bigger problems with their rides (especially with the 2.7ts) but i wanna make sure it's nothing serious. any insight would be great. thanks in advance everyone.

My 01 2.7t has done the same thing. Not bad but a little shaking at idle, sometimes sounds like its struggeling. NOW the RPMs sputter and the car sputters when coming down from speed. I have two guesses.
1.Could be the spark plugs ( I have a misfire or two)
2. It could be the MAF sensor.
heres kinda what mine looks like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnAr_jZ3XjU

^ mine is quite as severe as that but it sounds pretty similar. i changed the spark plugs so i don't think that's it but it could be the MAF, heard those go bad on these high mileage audis.
i'll also look at the engine mounts...i gotta get down there anyways. thanks all. appreciate the replies and i'll let everyone know the diagnosis.

on my audi i had to do both. the wire harness needs to be unscrewed (mine has a screw that comes in kind of diagonally holding the harness in place). the important part to clean is the part of the sensor that actually sticks into the tubing. you need to loosen the hose clamps on either side of the MAF housing and pull the whole section out. get some MAF cleaner and go to work.

^... no, unfortunately the shaking is still there. i was hoping it was something as simple as cleaning that MAF but considering other than the shaking my car runs great (in terms of mpg and performance) i kind of knew it would be something else.
