Should I or Shouldn't I?
So I recently sold my 2002 WRX and am looking for a new car. I can't spend alot since I'm moving to Florida for college which costs $70,000. I went driving around today and ended up at a VW dealer. I didn't think they had much, but I figured I'd take a look. It's a good thing I did cus in the used car lot they had a 2000 Audi 2.7 Biturbo awd sedan for $13,000. It was a one owner car and is still in pristine condition. Test drove it and fell in love.
Now I've been getting mixed feelings about buying this car. I know it's in really good condition now, but how are these cars in the long term? It has 56k on it atm new tires and is extremely clean inside and out. I know the dealer probably cleaned it up a bit extra but they always do. No problems on the history report, and I checked the body for any sorta repainting or damage coming up with nothing.
Now what do yall think? Should I pick it up or should I leave it be? If I did buy it I'd get the extended warranty that covers the car till 140k miles for an extra $2000 so with tax and all that jazz it will probably cost me around $17,000. Thats befor I get a say in the price haha.
being the owner of a 2001 2.7t i would say getting the extended warranty would be the smartest thing you could do. me? unfortunately i didn't. but i've tried to learn this car inside and out. so, i try to do maintanence myself. expect to have an oil leak soon. these cars are notorious for that. and usually it's the valve cover gaskets and the cam tensioner seals. not sure how warranty covers that? but these are easy diy fixes. this forum will be your best friend when it comes to problems and fixes. i have to say i have a love/hate relationship with my car. but honestly, i love it more than i hate it. if i were you, i would take it to an independent mechanic have them look it over before you purchase it. you don't want any surprises. my 2cents.
Audis are expensive to maintain, especially the turbomodels with over 60K miles. You are a college student and should be spending your money on women and beer. Skip the Audi and buy one when you have a little more excess cash.
Buy it, if you like it. However, because it is an Audi, and a one withTurbo... keep $4000 safe for any emergency maintenance/replacement like Timing belt, and Turbos. People, here have Turbos with 125K miles on the car, and still have no problems, but you can never be sure of those 56K miles the previous owner has driven and how frequently changed the engine oil, and if he had any sense of warm-up/cool-down affect on turbos.
So after reading a bit on these forums... I decided it was just to much money to keep up with hah. Looks like I'm still in the market then. I really like audi's though... Do yall recomend a more reliable one that I may want to look into?
Thanks for all the info everyone. Hope all of yalls cars stop giving yall any sorta trouble

As long as you get a nice extended warranty, I think you would be fine. You wouldnt have to save up money just for random stuff that COULD go wrong. All you will need to come up with would be your warranty deductable.
