Default side mirrors

I have a 2003 A6, I really like theS6 matt finished mirrors on the newer models. Ive been searching to see if those mirrors would fit on my car... not too much luck. I cant seem to find dimensions anywhere.

Dont know if the mounting points would cause a problem. Anyone try this mod? Or know of where i can get the 2003 S6 mirrors (not sure but think those where "chrome", which i would prefer not to have) any thoughts or suggestions would gladly be taken into consideration.

Default RE: side mirrors

OEM C5-platform S6 mirrors are polished aluminum, not chrome. As such, they are solid metal, heavy, and quite expensive. OEM C5-platform RS6 mirrors are also solid aluminum, but come in the brushed finish. Also quite expensive. Expect to pay about $950 pair (S6 or RS6) from the dealer, or about $350-400 USD for a pair of the housings onlyon eBay (US, UK, or Germany).

There are also "replica" housings made by inPro, which are chrome covered plastic. Not the best fit and quality, but about $150 USD for a new set. Anything that says "chrome" is not OEM.

If you want the real deal, search ebay Germany (www.ebay.de) and search for "audi spiegel" which translates into "audi mirror." Look for key words like "original" (i.e. factory) and "alu" for aluminum. Also, be sure that it is the correct year for the platform. You are looking for platform C5 (1998-2004). Most sellers there are willing to ship to the US (for a fee) and most do NOT accept PayPal, which requires a trip to your bank for a wire transfer. Sounds risky, but I ahve yet to be burned by any sellers from eBay Germany.

Happy hunting!!!

Hey bost, thanks for the [german] ebay advice :-) I'm also looking for the OEM brushed alum caps for my C5. Ordered the In.Pro from ECS Tuning and do NOT recommend those POS's to ANYBODY. My question with this ebay site though - how does the german dollar convert to ours? (For instance, 51,01 EUR would be.... US $$ ?) Is it the same as london's lbs? 1 lb = $2? so 51 EUR = $102? lol I'm sorry for such a silly question But I know you've ordered off of there so I just wanted to double check. Thank you!
