Sunroof Adjustments

Sunroof Adjustments
I have a 2001 A6 4.2. I am having trouble with the sunroof going back to the full open position. I seems to be hitting something or out of adjustment. I was wondering how much trouble it would be for me to adjust it myself. I have a funny feeling that I need to remove the headliner to get to any thing I could adjust. If anyone know what it take to remove the headliner or adjust the sunroof I would really like to know how. Thanks!

RE: Sunroof Adjustments
Thanks but I believe I need to remove the headliner to get to the part or parts that need adjustment. I was just wondering if I need some special tool to pull the headliner or what else I my need to remove to get the headliner down?

RE: Sunroof Adjustments
Does it move with being activated by the switch? Like all by itself. If thats the case, you need a new switch. If you try to close it and it goes back to the open position you probably have an issue witht he pinch protection. Try cleaning the track. You can also try adjusting the glass. Put the sunroof in the vent position. Remove the plastic or felt accordian covers from the side of the sunroof. There will be 3 t25 screws on each side of the sunroof. Loosen but dont remove. That loosens the sunroof allowing you to move it slightly and then retighten. In the full closed position it should be slightly lower than the body in front and slightly above in the rear. If neither of those help you probably need to replace the track.

RE: Sunroof Adjustments
It does move all by itself. When I turn the switch to full open it goes back about 3/4 of the way open and then stop and comes forward a 1/2 inch. It almost seems like the pinch pretection is detecting a problem opening and stops itself for doing any damaged.
