2000 A6 2.7T. I'm getting ERR 1 from my Symphony I head unit. No CD player function in the head, but good in the changer. I was wondering if I would be able to put a Symphony II head unit in without loss of function. I know that there are kits for iPod control through the Symphony II unit and I would love it. Is it possible to put a Symphony II unit in a car that came with the Symphony I without any other hardware changes: speakers, amp., etc.?

 

There is a writeup somewhere, but I can't find it. It is not just an easy plug and play install. It is quite involved. I though of doing it a few years ago, but didn't feel like going through all that effort.

fwiw, you can get ipod adapters/controls for your symphony 1 headunit.
