Thinking about 2006 A6
Just bought mine today: 2006 A6 3.2 Quatro, Silver.
It is a replacement for my totaled 2003 A6 Quatro.
Both of these were purchased as CPO from the local dealer. Given what I have heard about repairs (generally, I really didn't experience it during the 2 years I had my 2003) I don't think I would buy anything except a CPO (certified pre owned) the extra warranty does give some level of piece of mind. The only thing I heard was that some people have issues with the MMI (multi media interface). I just got it today, but I think I need to get my son (13 yrs old) to have a look and give me a run down on how it works, LOL. But seriously, compared to my 03 this one seems "tighter" and more responsive. I loved my 03; I think I'll come to love this one just as much or more!

The usual due diligence: get a service history, talk to previous owner if possible, have it checked out by an independent and knowledgeable garage. Check every accessory and power option - don't take it for granted that they all work. After 05, the Audi's have a higher quality rating.
