Default Thinking about getting a 2006 A6 4.2 but...

I am trying to find out if the 2006 A6 4.2 requires a timing belt change at 80k miles like my 2000 does. I got 180k miles out of my 2000 A6 and would like to get another, but want to know about any hidden maintenance "gotcha's" before I buy. I checked out Edmunds.com and their info said no timing belt service required. Any info would be helpful.

Thanks

The 4.2 in the C6 has a timing chain. It does not have a timing belt. I have the 05 4.2 and it is a great driving car.

Thanks. That's what I wanted to hear. I've had VWs, Audi's and Hondas all needing timing belts at around 80K and I'm tired of paying for the dealer's kids college fund with this stuff. I'm one step closer.

Again, thanks.
