Hey guys,

I was wondering if anybody has done a 5speed/auto tiptronic to a 6speed? How much am I looking at instal cost? I know it will be 2k for the tranny maybe little extra with special gear ratios. How much am I looking at for peddles, clutch, gearbox, ect? Let me know how your swap went aswell or if it is even worth it.

 

There are a few people who swapped 6 speed with autos. I think one of them was 4.2. There is a youtube on it. But the question is... Is it worth it as you ask? Hey whatever floats your boat.

Hey joe how did you get the number 10k? I am thinking 2k for the special tranny, 1-2k for instal pending if I do it at a friends shop or the audi place... Clutch gearbox ect 1k? Ohhh How would it work with making the TCU not work anymore?!?! that is a big fear of mine is how am I going to get the car to read it isn't an auto/tiptronic. Thanks guys

 

If i sent my tranny to level 10 I prob would be looking at 4-5K for the rebuild other than the 2k... which is why it might have been closer to 10k? Thanks for the help again

 

i was saying 10k because I of all the programming issues and the laborous instal not to mention Im sure you want a performance trans something lev10 not a stock a6 manual trans ... the guy on zine that did it put in some vw golf or r32 trans ... something like that

I am saying i have already found a built 6 speed s4 tranny which I can pay 2k or a little more to have the gear ratio set. It also has an extra wide first gear , stage 3 clutch 700-1k, pedals 70, i would need a gear box and acouple other small things. I am wondering if the TCU is more of a unplug thing when u just remove the old tranny and have my ECU reset for a manual. Please if anybody knows the steps to switch over the car programs ect.
