Default trans code change?

I have a 2002 2.7t quattro s-line ... I have read a lot on the forum about changing the trans code ... anyone know more about this subject or what is the recommended trans program that I should run ... could I change it with VAG com ... I am looking to get some software and don't know exactly where to buy or what to buy

HELP!

I have a GIAC fuel program and an exhaust I also have manifold and downpipes that are about to go on...

Here is the break down,

use vag-com go into the trans section. Then click on the adaption and change the last 2 digits to 32. Hit accept this will set the trans into sport mode. The result is the trans will hold all gears longer before shifts and also allow you to hold 1st gear longer in tip mode.

There are only 2 company's that make a tip chip

VAST Performance

GIAC

several people have mentioned in the past that they couldn't tell the difference between the stock file and the GIAC file so not too many people have them. Vast performance offers 3 levels. I would assume this would guaranty you will get the performance you are looking for.

The tip chip is a great way to go IMHO because as I understand it. The tip chip increases the pump pressure in the trans and decreases the time between shifts. This will help the car accelerate faster and because of the faster shifts allow the trans clutches to live longer as well.

I don't know a hole lot about the abilities of the sport mode in relationship to the trans. Check the adaption and see where it is at. This should be a good starting place.

as for the trans chip. it doesn't matter whether you are ARP. GIAC. MTM. A trans chip is completely separate from the ECU. It is programing just for the trans. IMHO a tip chip is a must along with Dp's for the chipped 2.7 guy.

yeah if you call VAST for the tip chip, then get your DPs from them too. I got their piggies for 335 I think. Great product and over $1000 less than APR or miltek DPs!!! VAST rocks!
For the trans code, I chnaged mine to 01032 from 01002 and I likw it, mostlyu b/c now I have 1st gear Your regular auto mode will be the same as SPORT mode after the change.. If you just want to change 1st gear you can use a different code, like 12 or 22.. gotta research, i forgot which one it is, the are 4 options total
