hi guys,
yesterday i pulled of the road and go stuck in a ditch. I just left the car there and about 4hrs later returned to pull it out. the car came out no problem. But when i stated to go the check engine light came on. I drove about a mile before i could pull off the road, i poped the hood and the oil cap had come off. i put it back and and the check engine light went out. Now when i turn the key on the check engine light come's on. But when i start the car it goes out. but now i can't put the engine over in manual mode and its stuck in like what would be 4th gear in the automatic mode, and the gear selector lights on the dash is all lit up. it is a 99 audi a6 quatro 2.8

 

A few things...

1. Its typical for the CEL to come on when you turn the key, but when the engine starts it goes out

2. Sounds like your car is in limp mode
