Turn Signals keep blowing out, common problem?
I am having an ongoing problem with my turn signals. By ongoing I mean this happened on my last a6 as well as my current one. My drivers side turn signal repeatedly blowns out, sometines only days after being replaced and more recently the passenger signals just started blinking faster than the drivers(as though one had blown) but they are all in working order. Considering this happened to me on 2 c5's in a row Im hoping this is a common problem. Has anyoen heard of this?

I don't know about C5 problems but I kept blowing fuses in the left turn signal of my 89 200QT. I would change the fuse and everything worked for a few day. I knew it had to be an intermittant short someplace. I took almost everything apart, cut wires and ran parallel circuits, checked grounds, wiggled connectors, etc. Finally I found that the damn bulb in the trunk lid was causing all the problems - it was shorting internally.
So I would start at the bulb sockets front and rear and work towards the fuse.

Turn signals not working
The problem is in the front turn signal bulb holders and headlamp housings.
Take the headlight out of the car, flip it over and clean the contacts by scraping the melted plastic off of them. Then apply dielectric grease.
Then do the same to the bulb socket/holder. I also bent the contacts up to push harder into the housing. This has worked for 4 months now with no problems at all.
If this is not feasable, the only other way is to replace the headlamp housings and bulb sockets $$$$$$$$!

Thanks for the replies. I tried cleaning the contacts on the bulb holders but Im not sure how to get the headlights out to do the same. I still have the problem, I will try replacing the rear and side bulbs tomorrow just to eliminate them.
