I use Virtual XP mode.

 

Download VCDS-Lite. It is compatible with ebay cables and will work with windows vista and 7, both 32 and 64 bit.

I never got vag-com 3.11/409 to work with Windows 7 64bit home premium. So I set up a virtual XP machine using VMware. 7 Home premium does not include Virtual XP mode by default. You need 7 Professional, Ultimate or Enterprise editions.

Maybe 32bit 7 home premium would work without the need for a virtual machine or virtual xp, but I don't know.
