I have a 2000 A6 2.7T with 120k miles. The car was perfectly fine earlier today, but after doing some minor cleaning in the engine bay with a damp rag and a toothbrush and going for a short drive, it sounds like the lifters are a lot louder than usual and I can hear a lot more turbo noise than usual when it is spooling up. I heard a similar turbo noise recently and I figured out that the 2 metal clips on the intake near the MAF had fallen off. I got those replaced and the noise has been gone. I have no idea what the noise could be coming from now. The clips are there and everything looks fine under the hood as far as I can tell. Any ideas on what the wooshing noise/lifter noise could be from and if they are related? The car also seems down on power a bit. Like I have to give it some more gas to get the same result. Otherwise the car runs and drives fine.
