Default Windshield question

My Audi suffered from some vandalism and I need to replace my windshield. My preference would be to replace with OEM Audi glass. I want original quality and don't want any leaks, etc. The guy at the dealer body shop typed in my VIN over the phone and wanted to know if my glass was insulated or non-insulated, and if it had the rain sensor. I don't have my car with me. Does anybody know? I have a 2002 A6 with premium pkg. Thanks.

Well does your car automatically turn on the wiper blades when it rains outside? If not you don't have a rain sensor. You want an insulated windshield no matter what the car has on it now.

Oh and when it comes to auto glass, OEM isn't always the best. Sometimes aftermarket is actually better. My aftermarket windshield has handled a hell of a lot more rock chips then my OEM one. The OEM one almost cracked all the way through after getting hit with one rock, my aftermarket one has been hit 6 times now and hasn't cracked yet.

No... i have to turn them on. I guess that was a dumb question. So my answer is insulated and no sensor. Thanks.

Hmm... you could be right, but my old one lasted seven years until some a-hole threw a bottle against my windshield in a hotel parking lot. I like original and having the four rings on my glass. Thanks for the replies!

Whatever floats ur boat. All windshields have to be built to the government standard so they are all pretty much the same.

Personally, I find my PPG windshield better than Audi's.

Hey 4-ring, sorry to hear about the vandalism.
I hope some day you get your hands on the bastard who trashed your windshield.
