Close the original clamps and measure, but it should be in the area of 3 inches. You can get clamps from Autozone, Advance, etc....

Default RE: y pipe question

The answer to the Y (Why) pipe question is that pipes are good for transporting liguid and gases from one place to another without mixing with the surrounding atmosphere.

It the case of Audi, many of the pipes have a lack of gas (vacuum) and are used by the engineers to befuddle and annoy the car's owner. A slight leak will make your vehicle run poorly and turn on the CEL.

Some Audi's also have pipes that connect a compressor to the intake manifold to transport extra air to the motor so it puts out more power. These pipes can also leak causing strange performance variations and the dreaded CEL.

All Audi's have small pipes that go from a manually operated foot pump to each wheel. These are high pressure pipes and do something to stop the wheels from turning. If that pipes breaks theAudi is probably going to obtaina few dents followed byan air bag deploying.

Then there are pipes the driver smokes... What goes into this pipe is up to the driver and we will not elaborate on that just now.

Thus I have answered the question-- Y pipes?

Default RE: y pipe question

To pipe or not to pipe
That is the question
Wether it is nobler in the mind to transport something in a pipe
Or takeit in a bucket is a sea of troubles.
Opposing the question and sleeping
results in the heartache of the unknown
whilst the scorn of the wild man and pangs of despised love linger
one can only hope that your sins will nevermore be remembered!
