Default Oil change frequency

I just had the 5000 mile oil change done and the service department pasted my next oil change to take place at 10000 miles. The service manual I have states that the mileage should be 15000 miles. What opinions do you people out there have?

The value stated in manual is an ideal value. Changing the oil depends largely on the driving habits and engine conditions. Replacing the oil a bit early will always be a better option to keep away from unnecessary problems. If you're a real care taker and drive your car smoothly without stressing much on the gas pedal, then oil changing at 15k miles will also work.

Default oil change

Thanks for your input.

Since the oil is synthetic and has all the engine cleaners necessary, don't you think that 10K miles is OK for change intervals.

Could the dealer be looking for some 'profit' .

I usually recommend every 5000 miles with approved 502 00 synthetic oil.

I would go more than 5000 miles. The extra few bucks could extend the life of the motor or a much more expensive problem down the road.

2016 A6 2.0. We have Audi Care as it came with our CPO car. Recommended oil change interval is 5,000, then 15,000, then 25,000 etc or once a year. Does anyone else out there not have a warm and fuzzy feeling about changing the oil once a year? A6 takes 5 quarts with a filter and their "special" VW approved synthetic oil.

Agree with Lawrencemichael. I had my second oil change in the A6 3.0 TFSI, after a 10K interval. The oil was dark and dirty. From here on I will change it every 5K.
