Default '04 A8L won't start

New forum member and first time Audi owner. Purchased a 2004 Audi A8L and the first full day we had it, it breaks down at the gas station. Went to fill it up, realized I had parked on the wrong side of the pump, got back in, turned the key to the "on" position and nothing. I didn't get any CEL, dash lights or chimes, nothing. Tried it a few more times and same thing. Nothing at all.

Interior lights, exterior lights, unlock and lock, windows all work, it's just nothing happens when I turn the key. Unlike other problems I've read on here, the key did not get stuck in the ignition switch.

So the local dealer I bought it from came out with a basic scan tool and to my knowledge, just cleared all codes and it started. Took it up the local import shop and they've had it since Friday. They test drove it, shut it off, started it and then on the 4th time, it did the same thing it did to me. They're telling me it's the ignition switch and me knowing nothing about Audi's, I told them to go ahead and replace it. I've heard from other sources that the problem could be something entirely different and was thinking if it's the ignition switch then, how would clearing the codes allow it to start just fine? Just wanted to get other's opinions on the situation. Thanks a lot!
