Has anyone changed a8 transmissions from FUN,FBF,or GQF. I wonder if different transmissions can be interchanged as long as tcm is also changed?

 

I am switching to a manual.. If that helps any? I mean I do have auto pulled anything info you need? I maybe able to take pics to help...

 

Is the A8 even physically set up to accept a clutch system?

 

Yes and no ....the pedal assembly does have a space for clutch pedal. And most parts bolt up to replace whatever part you're replacing. there is no part for drive shaft and clutch flywheel's trigger teeth must be adjusted for relocation of CP's in the 01e trans. Add far a I'm aware the ecu won't automatically adjust for that many degrees of offset.

 

The rear diff is also coded to the transmission.... A mismatch will cause vibrations. Which usually means the driveshaft and axles need to be swapped as well
