Question Any difference between resale value of an A8l vs A8

Difference in resale of a long wheelbase car vs a short wheel base?

I assume that the short car handles far better. I also assume that the reason for so many fewer short cars is that the long car is more popular. Am I correct.

If so, what affect does this have on resale? I was looking at A8L's, but a friend of mine in the high line pre-owned business found a '06 A8 with 38,000 on clock that I can buy his cost plus trucking - around 28,500 (plus I have to put tires on).

Sounds like a heck of a deal. Car arrived at his place....even dirty it looked good. Nice options - cold weather, convenience, suck in doors, and satellite radio. Factory warranty until April 2010.

How much shorter is the car than the long car?

Again, any difference in resale? I actually like the look of the short car.

They both decrease in value at the same rate, you will take a slight loss in kelly blue book value VS the A8L, but thats kinda in the eye of the beholder. Folks that buy audis will usually be looking for something specific, meaning someone thats looking for the more rare short wheelbase A8 might pay more for it than an A8L. As far as handling, it does have a slightly better turning radius, but they both handle like a rat on velcro

Default Can I use your quote?

Auditech.....I love that description..."Like a rat on velcro."

What do you think of the pricing on the 2006 A8 shorty? Sounds pretty good....$5.00 more than the 2005 A8L. The L had a few less options, but the only missing important option - satellite radio. The A8 has that.

Is the 2006 a reliable year for these cars?

The 06 is just as good as an 05, but most of the 06's have the FSI motor, first year for that in the A8. So far it hasn't had any issues which is good, plus it gets better fuel economy and better gas mileage than the 05's 4.2L.

Default what about 07's

A lot of folks seem to be leaning towards 06 models versus 07/08. Any reason? Are there issues with 07 and on?

Im buying my 1st a8 but i cant seem to decide between the 07-09. Which is more reliable and known to have the least problems or malfunctions. Whats the major difference between these models? Which do you prefer or recommend?

The 08-09 has the FSi motor, plus has greatly improved suspension and steering over the 07 model. If I could, I'd go for 08 or later.
