light switch misbehaves
I thought I was crazy too! Audi Q5, tired of this happening! It's not my knees because after about 5 times of this happening, I watch the **** very very carefup my. It's on auto when I go into work and off when I come out but not all the time! I thought someone was seriously getting into my car and doing this to me as a joke!
Heather, I think I actually found a fix for this, just last week.
Take a piece of plastic shim stock. I had an ahah moment and realize a coffee can cover comes in brown or black to match the panel trim color. Cut a strip about 3/8" wide and 3/4" long. (My first piece of plastic was white--too visible. Plastic soda bottle stock, etc. might also work.) Now wedge the plastic shim in around the actual ****. You can get a piece about 3/4" long inserted around part of the ****, and at that point it is so snug that you can't fit more around it. Exactly how long a strip you can use will vary with how thick the plastic is, and how loose the fitting is. If you push this is all the way--you may never be able to get it out. So leave one end out a bit, or leave a little "hook" sticking out, in case you want to remove it. Some fiddling around to get a good fit may be necessary, but you can bury about 1/4" width of shim in there. Mine is now tight enough so that I can turn the **** manually, with some effort, but I don't think my knee will be able to do it without my knowledge.
Road tests begin today.(G) I only wonder why it took me so long to try such a simple solution. And, if the shim matches the dash color (as the coffee can lids do) it should be an elegant kludge.
