Audi 2017 Coolant/CranskCase CSK/Oil Separator Repair - Request for info
Hi All
This is the first time I am posting and I am from San Diego CA. I have an 2017 Q7 Prestige model with around 85K miles. The vehicle is mostly serviced at Audi dealers.
Due a coolant leak, I got it repaired at an Audi Dealership in June 2023( the warranty is for 1 year ). The repair was to replace the coolant pump and thermostat. After this the vehicle was fine.
For the past few months, I have been observing that my oil consumption seems to be high as I was getting Oil low warning almost every 2000 - 2500 miles. This was not the case till the Coolant repair was done.
I also observed the coolant level in the car has dropped below the min mark( check in the last couple of weeks), however it was not too low to show the engine warning. Since the coolant pump and thermostat was changed around 8 months ago, I was not expecting this. So I took the vehicle to the same dealer to get it checked( they said if no fault is found I will be charged $225, which I thought was not required as it is under warranty ).
As per the inspection report, they claimed that the Coolant is working fine( based on pressure test ) and there are not visible leaks under the car. Their reason for the coolant level to go low was due to some air-bubble trapped. This it seems odd as if that was the case, it would have shown earlier and I am assuming that this should have been addressed when the repair was done. Is my understanding correct? Looking for advice/suggestion from the experts in the group here.
As part of the Multi-Point inspection, they found that the “P052E00 PCV Valve performance(01101000)” has 45 Malfunction frequency counter with a date on 08/29/23 at 4:51( see screen shot). Is this the date of first occurrence or the last? I am assuming it the first occurrence; Is this correct?
Although there was not visible oil leak they mentioned that this is the cause for the abnormal oil consumption. My question is could this be caused by the coolant/thermostat replacement? The dealer says no. Is the dealer right? Could it be that the coolant is leaking into the engine after repair and it caused this issue? I am not sure the air-bubble could be the reason the coolant level went down. Can you please provide your suggestion.
Here is the overall summary of the repair costs( recommended order by the dealer) and it seems be very expensive and would like to get your valuable advice. Also I was surprised that they are recommending to hold off on the CrankCase Breadth CSK Oil Separator as there is no engine light on. Should this be the first one to repair?
