engine noise

Not sure if you ever got a response here...but my 2007 is just plain loud all the time. Disappointing for a "luxury/performance" car. I do get a quick deisel like "banging" sound for only a second when starting cold. I'm told it is just how it runs...again, disappointing for an expensive Euro.

I have a 88 chevy silverado with 350 engine, recently I noticed a squealing noise under my hood and it is mostly noticeable when I start up the truck or when its idling. I think its my belt but I am not sure? What could be the problem, and how do I fix it? Thanks.

i, too, was wondering if it was just my car in particular that has a diesel sound when starting the car COLD. after some research across many forums, it sounds like it's normal to have that sound for the first 45 seconds after starting the car COLD. however, as the RPM drops below 1K to about 800 RPM, the engine sounds more normal, right?
and it happens mostly on COLD starts, and not every start. (i.e., if you just turned off the engine within 30 mins and turn it back on, you don't hear it right?
