I hope it doesn't happen to me... my 2012 q7 is in order. Didn't spend to get the bose system though. Then I guess i won't have this problem.

Jerome,

The amplifier is in the trunk. Unlike chut's reply, my amplifier was on the right side(passenger side). It is a pain to get to it, since you need to remove a bunch of covers before finally getting to the amplifier. You may need to buy Elsawin software for the actual directions and diagrams on how to remove it.

I am having the same problem and this is the third MMi system in the car and they are telling it it 1400 to fix.. It seems Audi has a problem with these MMI system. The Bose has to causing the problem and yet the computer on the car will not take their software.

So, it would be a tremendous help if you could help me locate the amplifier. I have found online a replacement called "Car MOST Amplifier Interface for Audi MMI (BOS-MI009)". This item is going online for approximately $399. Looking forward to a quick response.
It is in the trunk, on the right side. It is a pain to get to it. I bought some manuals on ebay for just a few dollars. That had instructions on how to get to it after removing a bunch of panels. I suggest buying something like that.

I just posted a long thread concerning the same issue I am having with my Q7. I will be posting a DIY manual either Thursday or Friday depending how busy I am at work and then over the weekend I will do a video to show everyone how to remove the covers to remove the amp and also to install the fibre optics connector to test the amp or any other device.

I see lot of people having this problem but no one has posted the directions on how to change the amp. If anyone has a good link or directions please post. I am having battery drain issue to and when I took the fuse of the amp out, the issue is gone. I am looking to replace the amp myself too.
