Thinking of purchasing a 2007 - 2008 possibly a 2009 Q7 4.2L.

I will be towing about 5,000 lbs.

Two questions:

Can I have an Audi dealership install the tow package? I believe it is a lot more involved than just the hitch. Correct?

It is a fairly involved job and is more than just the hitch. From the Audi Accessories catalog: P/N 4L0 092 101U complete tow package (for vehicles without factory tow) includes control module 4L0 907 383. Capacity of 5,500 lbs. Installed price (MSRP) is $895 parts and labor plus $65.14 for the 7-pin connector. Also, you need a new trim plate for the lower valance where the hitch comes through. Your dealer parts dept will have to refer to ETKA for the correct one and price (not included with pkg because they are VIN specific). There is some coding needed also but not a big deal. Yes, have only an Audi dealer do the install, you'll thank yourself later!
