So you buy a gorgeous $70k plus car that is amazing in every aspect but have nothing good to say about it because it doesn't accommodate a pet barrier. Whatever...

Tell her to walk if she doesn't like the car and the dog too for that matter...hahaha.

wow, this was the best post I have ever read. My spoiled wife also has issues with our Viszla (dog) jumping over the seats but our solution was to get the dog trained. First thing you have to do is train your wife to think of other solutions vs. blame the car. That you spend a ton of money on her b/c you love her and have the money to spend. Then you have to convince her to get her butt, and the 2 hyper dogs (not as hyper as a Viszla, FYI) to a great dog trainer and get them under control.
FYI, if the real research was completed before buying the Q7 you would have known there is no solution. Have fun.

I have a new Q7 and a small dog. Openendstraight, thanks for pointing out the limitation of the Audi factory cargo barrier. I had the same issue with my wife's 350 mbz wagon. The gaps on either side allowed our pup to crawl through to the main compartment.

My solution for that car was to fabricate two Plexiglas panels that covered the gaps on either side. Looks like I might end up fabricating a solution for the new rig, too.
