'04 convertible problem
The top goes down easy, but when I put it back up it gets about half way and stops. I'm going to take it into the shop, but I wanted to find a little more about it before I do. Can anyone direct me to some schematics for the convertible system? Or can you tell me what kind of drive it is? Is it a dual motor or single? Is it hydraulic?
Thanks,
Brian

I hope it's only the fluid. My 2004 convertible had a problem last year where the sequence would stop in the middle of putting the top up or down. Sometimes it would resume after I turned off the engine & waited a few minutes. Sometimes the next day! Ultimately I had to have the Control module replaced, for $1100 (and the car was only shortly out of warranty). Now, 10 months later, the same type of malfunction is occurring, and the dealer has now told me that the new control module is working fine, but that the "latch system" is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced for another $1100. Audi America has been polite & responsive, but so far, the only resolution is a small discount off the new repair. And, I'm not convinced that it's the latches. THis doesn't make sense to me. Any thoughts????
Give me $2200, and I'll be polite too.
Your problem shouldn't have anything to do with the "Latch System."
As far as I know, everything: Hydraulic Pump and 2 Struts are all self contained, with no way to check fluid levels. To remove the pump, you have to first remove the top. Everything is located in the area under where the top folds down.
Can't you finish raising the top manually?
