2001 TT 225 Quattro Traction control fault.
Hi everyone, I wondered if anyone can shed any light on this problem for me.
I was out and about this morning when suddenly the ESP warning light came on the dash, I did not think too much about it as when I parked up, then started the engine again 15 minutes later it had gone off. However about 15 miles later I pulled up at the lights, and when I tried pulling away I stalled the engine. I quickly (and embarrassed at stalling the car), started up the engine again and as there were people behind me waiting, I gave it some revs, and pulled away quite sharpish.... Anyway, suddenly I started experiencing what I can only describe as a juddering and grinding under the car, it sounds dreadful and makes the whole car violently vibrate. I tried turning off the ESP on the dash, but still the same problem. I managed to get the 3 miles or so home, but obviously do not want to risk driving it again. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

My first and the most simplest cause of this, is one of your brake calipers is sticking. Your ESP light is controlled by the ABS/Wheel sensors....it's hard to describe a noise in writing, I k know, but that would be my first guess....
second one would be your differential, if it's not a brake caliper sticking, then you should do a differential fluid change and your haldex fluid change on your TT (AudiWorld Tech Articles)....
If you can have the codes scanned and post, it would point you in the right direction of which wheel it was possibly.
OR can you pinpoint the noise front or rear? Left or right front or rear?
