2002 audi TT purchase advice?
Hello all... Im looking to become a first time Audi TT owner. I am looking at a 2002 Audi TT with 82000 miles. it is the 180HP model with a 5 speed manual and front wheel drive, not quattro. the dealer is asking $11900 sticker not including tax title license etc i am currently negotiating with the dealer and have them down to $10800 out the door. I am wondering what I should be looking for in consideration for purchasing this car or TT's in general. also is 10800 a good price for this vehicle? modding potential? etc. your input would be much appreciated!
Thanks!
Thanks!

Don't!
Bought one 8 weeks ago, cost me $2300 so far and its in the shop again..
Theres 40 kazillion sensors and one goes bad it takes weeks to find. Guage clusters ALL fail, ($1200 replacement), window motors($500), maf's ($150), tbi's($750), radio led's, all kindsa stuff. Motors are great, the rest of the car is crap. If you do, make sure you get the radio code!! And be willing to open your checkbook for anything

I bought an 03 roadster just a couple weeks ago, and love it, but have had problems, one major, two minor.
Make sure ALL recall, or "service action" stuff is done before you buy it. You can take it to Audi dealer and for free they will look at all the recall stuff (or you can call Audi customer care with the VIN and they can look it up.)
There are two that I am aware of, the timing belts need replaced at miles lower than the OM says. If you're at 80k, it definitely needs to make sure it's been replaced by audi, not independent (they warranty extends to 105k if audi looks at it), and there is a problem with ignition coils. My timing belt broke 3 days after I got it, and one day before I had an appointment to replace it. Fortunately the used dealer took VERY good care of me even though he didn't need to. I now have a new head, valves, and a rebuilt motor. Had Audi replace the engine coils today under recall, and all maintenance is done, so all good now.
As above me -
The radios have a code in case power is lost to it, they reset to safe mode. Make sure you get that code, as it's an ordeal to get it back -- you need to have the radio pulled out to get a number, and call Audi who has to call Germany and it's kind of a hassle.
I think your price is a bit high; I paid 13k for a 2003 quattro 225hp roadster with half the miles.
That said, I LOVE the car despite the problems I had and have no regrets. If you keep up on the maintenance, it will go for a long time. Best of luck!

If it's a roadster check the rear window. They come unglued and leak thus destroying a $500.00 circuit board.
Make sure it hasn't been re glued with some sort of sealer.
If anything breaks it will be expensive.
And the price does seem a little high. Any pictures?
